Can oil pulling help with sensitive teeth?

Guru Answer

Yes, oil pulling is one of the best ways you can alleviate sensitivity of the teeth.

Whenever I feel I’m having sensitivity in my teeth, I add a couple of essential oils to my oil pulling routine.

I take one tablespoon of oil pulling oil, and then I add one drop of Clove Oil and one drop of Tea Tree Oil.

Tea Tree is a natural anti-infective agent, and Clove Oil is a natural analgesic, which helps numb the area.

For me, this is like my source of potassium nitrate, which is the main ingredient in Sensodyne and other oral products designed for sensitive teeth.

Even just 50 years ago, dentists in India were using Clove Oil as an analgesic since they did not have access to all the modern numbing agents that we have.

Clove Oil is amazing because it literally blocks the pain receptors.

The Tea Tree Oil disinfects your mouth from bad bacteria, especially streptococcus mutants.

Oil pulling also generally weakens the biofilm of bacteria in the mouth.

After oil pulling, I recommend you brush, floss, and end with tongue scraping. This reduces your entire mouth’s bacteria, which helps to reduce the sensitivity of the teeth.

In this way, you’re helping your own body repair itself, and you can feel better again very quickly.
